Lost and Found Items
Lost a personal item while travelling with Kenya Airways? Let us help you locate and recover it.
Reporting a Lost Item
If you realize that you have misplaced a personal item, please report it as soon as possible at a Kenya Airways Customer Service Desk. The agent will contact the Security Control Room to verify whether the item has been found and handed in.
Items may be recovered from various locations, including:
- Aircraft cabins
- Boarding gates
- KQ Airport lounges
- Kenya Airways sales offices
- Other Kenya Airways operational areas
All recovered items are forwarded to the Kenya Airways Security Control Room for safekeeping.
Claiming a Found Item
If your item has been located, you will be required to provide proof of ownership before it can be released. This includes:
- Valid identification (National ID or Passport)
- Proof of travel, such as a boarding pass and/or ticket
Once ownership has been verified, you will be asked to complete a Lost & Found Release Form indicating:
- Your name
- Date of collection
- Condition/status of the item at the time it was found
You will receive a copy of the completed form for your records before the item is handed over.
Items Held by Kenya Airports Authority (KAA)
In some cases, lost items may be collected by representatives of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) before being transferred to Kenya Airways.
Where this occurs, Kenya Airways Security will liaise with KAA to retrieve the item on your behalf. Once collected, the standard ownership verification and release process will be followed before the item is returned to you.
Unclaimed Items
Items that remain unclaimed are retained for a period of up to 90 days.
After 90 days:
- All unclaimed items are itemized and handed over to Customs in accordance with applicable procedures.
- Records of the items are retained and archived.
- Items not claimed within six months are archived and managed in line with regulatory requirements.
